Workshop Overview and General Information
Expressive Photography aims to run trips that are unique and focussed on one thing; building meaningful relationships with a wonderful landscape and making images that reflect each person’s individual perspectives and emotional spectrum.
The trip starts in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, but we will transfer down to Harris for the first 4 nights. The Isle of Harris is a photographer’s paradise, with stretches of wild coast, secluded sandy coves and the most beautiful light imaginable. We will then spend the next 3 nights in a beautiful hotel on the outskirts of Stornoway from where we can explore the more rugged and dramatic Isle of Lewis. The character of these two islands could not be more apparent and I like to base time in each to fully immerse in that unique feel.
We will then head back to the mainland on the ferry to Ullapool for a further 2 nights in the Cairngorms National Park area, surrounded by lochs, rivers, mountains and forests, the colour palette of late autumn being just incredible. The forests will be stunning in colour, and we may even get some early snow on the higher hills. We will emerge ourselves in a world of creative insight.
You’ll be staying in some ideally situated hotels and transported in a roomy and comfortable 9 seater van. Please note the price excludes lunch and evening meals. In our experience there is a wide disparity in what participants consume on a daily basis. Our pricing policy allows each of you to have what you want without overpaying.
I will collect you from Stornoway airport, or, if you decide to arrive early, taxis are cheap for the few minutes transfer into town. On the final day I can either drop you at a hotel in Inverness town, or at the airport. The trip will end at 3pm on the 25th November.

Alister Benn has been running workshops on the west coast of Scotland and throughout the Scottish highlands for over a decade. His focus is on education and trying to facilitate each participant to develop their own creative style and expressive output. Through all of Alister’s teaching the focus on personal development and creativity are key. Alister likes to laugh and have a good time, you can expect a fun trip, but filled with learning and insight.

Payment Terms
A deposit of GB£995 is required to secure your reservation. The remaining balance of GBP£3000 will be invoiced 90 days prior to the start of the trip. Once final payment invoices have been sent, you have 30 days to make the payment, or your place may be offered to someone else. All of our standard terms and conditions apply.
