Workshop Overview and General Information

Expressive Photography aims to run trips that are unique and focussed on one thing; building meaningful relationships with a wonderful landscape and making images that reflect each person’s individual perspectives and emotional spectrum. Teaming up with world class photographer Alex Noriega is a first for us, and we really think our combined approaches will be so complimentary.

The trip starts in Stornoway and transfer down to the Isle of Harris for the first 4 nights to explore the massive unspoiled beaches, rugged rocks, rolling hills and crystal azure waters. We then relocate to base ourselves on the outskirts of Stornoway for the second 4 nights. The quality of Lewis and Harris are quite different, and we prefer to split the time equally, rather than just being based on Harris like so many other tours.

You’ll be staying in some ideally situated hotels and transported in a roomy and comfortable 9 seater van and my Ford Ranger truck. Please note the price excludes lunch and evening meals. In our experience there is a wide disparity in what participants consume on a daily basis. Our pricing policy allows each of you to have what you want without overpaying.

We will start the trip when you arrive at Stornoway airport, or can pick you up from a Stornoway hotel if you choose to arrive a day or so early. There are flights to Stornoway with Loganair from many UK airports including Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester. We are happy top help with any specific travel needs you have. You must be in Stornoway no later than 3pm on the 1st October.

Alex Noriega

I seek to convey a sense of mystery with my photographs; I want to spark the viewer’s imagination. Though I initially became known for grand landscapes, I now prefer to focus on more subtle, intimate scenes. I have a great appreciation for the timeless compositions of the masters of film. I aim to blend the influence of this classic style with contemporary techniques in my work.
