Workshop Overview and General Information
North of the Arctic Circle, autumn comes early, with frosts, chilly nights and even snow at higher elevations. The spruce and birch forests begin to turn to their golden foliage and a soft, ethereal light permeates the area. Crystal clear rivers flow into a myriad of lakes, fringed by reeds and exquisite geology.
This workshop covers a hidden gem of the high Arctic, Abisko National Park in the far north of Sweden.
We will be base ourselves in a beautiful mountain lodge beside an exquisite canyon. The gorge is steep sided, but with ample opportunities to shoot from high, or to get down to the water’s edge. The sheer volume of incredible rock formations juxtaposed with turbulent water and overshadowed by a riot of colour is impressive. This is a photographers paradise, a playground for the imagination and a blank canvas for artists looking to deepen their expressive articulation.
This is certainly a workshop on which to find your personal vision, immersing ourselves in this glorious landscape. Pre workshop learning material and on course theory and processing instruction is included. Additionally, some weeks after we return, we will gather on zoom as a group to discuss our images and what we discovered while we were there. These debriefs are excellent opportunities to reflect and absorb a growing bandwidth of perspective.
