I have been a photography enthusiast for over 20-years and during this time, I have read many books, magazines and consumed thousand of hours of You Tube videos in the quest of knowledge and understanding in the complexities of modern photography. While these previous activities have been essential in my ‘technical’ growth as a photographer, I always felt that something was missing in my personal journey of photographic understanding. It wasn’t until I first read, “Luminosity & Contrast” along with the “The Colour of Meaning” did everything start to gel for me. Alister is shifting the ‘paradigms’ of over-hyped social media driven photographic thinking through his cogent messages and approaches that are conveyed within each of these publications. Each of these books are foundational in nature and must reads for anyone that is seeking a deeper understanding of photography. For me, they have been transformational!
