Dodge & Burn MASTERCLASS
SUMMER SALE

In this 7 hour video course Alister Benn looks not just at the many ways in which we can dodge and burn, but immerses into a deep dive of the why of every single decision. There is a consequence to our processing; an articulation of an idea, a feeling, an emotion, or a mood, and Alister shows how to anticipate and fine-tune these to create unique and expressive photographs.

Whether you are new to photography, or a seasoned professional, this course will open your eyes to a completely new approach to your images.

THE VIDEOS WERE RECORDED IN 2020 AND THE VERSIONS OF LIGHTROOM AND PHOTOSHOP ARE NOW DIFFERENT. THE CONCEPTS AND TECHNIQUES ARE STILL VALID, BUT THE INTERFACE HAS CHANGED SINCE THE TIME OF RECORDING.

Alister Benn’s Dodging & Burning Masterclass is a real game-changer. His intuitive and subtle approach helps you free valuable processing power in your mind and gets the creative juices flowing. It is so much more than dodging and burning – it helps you to get to the bottom of your photo and to express yourself. Highly recommended!

Alister, I wanted to get you some feedback on the D&B videos. I sat and watched them from beginning to end, not in one session but over a couple days. I think your building up from basic skills to advanced skills works well, but I was very anxious to get to the meat of the processing though. Since I am already an experienced TK user, I had no problem incorporating the masks to do exactly as I wanted. I’ve done some image processing on images that I had already done with multiple layers with files that ended around 2 to 2.5 GB. That was with all the masks and layers and 3rd party filters combined. Processing the same images with your history brush methods not only was more fluid, but I really felt a more creative level at which I did the work.

Alister has a rare blend of artistry, technology, humility, and openness – not a common combination in photography. Alister celebrates seeing with one’s mind, one’s eye, and (often) one’s camera. I’ve enjoyed his writing as well, with a good blend of the technical or the emotive. It’s clear that Alister loves his craft, and you will find the love in virtually every page of his books. Buy one, i feel confident that you won’t be disappointed.

“If landscape photography was so easy, everyone would already be a master. The fact that there are millions of people out there still searching for answers and paths to creativity tells me that there is more to it than just buying expensive equipment and learning lots of techniques. The real development of our craft happens on the inside, and it happens for the people who invest the time to discover their own motives, and what makes them unique.

This is what we care about at Expressive Photography.”
