Alister, I wanted to get you some feedback on the D&B videos. I sat and watched them from beginning to end, not in one session but over a couple days. I think your building up from basic skills to advanced skills works well, but I was very anxious to get to the meat of the processing though. Since I am already an experienced TK user, I had no problem incorporating the masks to do exactly as I wanted. I’ve done some image processing on images that I had already done with multiple layers with files that ended around 2 to 2.5 GB. That was with all the masks and layers and 3rd party filters combined. Processing the same images with your history brush methods not only was more fluid, but I really felt a more creative level at which I did the work.
Alister has a rare blend of artistry, technology, humility, and openness – not a common combination in photography. Alister celebrates seeing with one’s mind, one’s eye, and (often) one’s camera. I’ve enjoyed his writing as well, with a good blend of the technical or the emotive. It’s clear that Alister loves his craft, and you will find the love in virtually every page of his books. About the author: Alister Benn is a full-time professional landscape photographer, educator and musician. He has been teaching expressive landscape photography for over a decade and believes that expression and creativity are intuitive in all of us. Rigid, rule-based education actually creates barriers and walls between us and our unique voice. Alister is the author of numerous eBooks covering all aspects of the creative and expressive process. He is co-founder of Expressive Photography Ltd with his wife, Ann Kristin Lindaas. They live together in a very small village on the west coast of Scotland.
In 2021, Alister was made a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society.
